Your First Visit
Thank you for considering our clinic as your first choice to care for your health. Our premises are located at the corner of Springvale Rd. and Seaview Crescent in Mulgrave. There is rear access to the car park with plenty of space.
We ask you to arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time so you don't have to rush filling in the forms.
The first consultation takes about 1 hour as the Chiropractor needs to do a thorough examination and treatment.
Below is a brief explanation what will happen on the day.
The 6 Steps of the Initial Consultation
Step 1. Your Health history
We are interested in what kind of health problems or discomfort you are experiencing. There are many factors that cause spinal problems – Falls, Motor vehicle accidents, Sport Injuries and Incorrect lifting. Other things that can contribute to spinal problems are your lifestyle such as stress, diet and illnesses, that’s why a medical history is taken.
Step 2. Instrumentation
We use a sensitive heat reading instrument called a Nervoscope. We glide this down the back in order to look for areas of abnormal heat distribution which could indicate nerve dysfunction and joint swelling.
Step 3. Motion Palpation
We palpate (feel) your spine while moving different regions of your upper body. This is to determine how easily or difficult each spinal bone moves. Lack of motion is one of the factors in vertebral misalignment.
Step 4. X-Ray Analysis
To determine structural abnormalities, misalignment's of the spinal bones, fractures or pathologies, it is necessary to take a set of x-rays that visualize the entire structure of your spine. This examination provides the Chiropractor with a blueprint for correcting and maintaining the health of your spine. These full-spine radiographs are taken in the standing, weight-bearing position to fully substantiate the examination findings. There is no need to go anywhere as the x-rays are taken at the premises.
Step 5. Report of findings
This is the final step before the correction being done. All information is being put together and compared with the detailed analysis of the xrays. This is to make sure nothing else is causing your problem. When everything correlates, the Dr goes through the x-rays with you, describing in detail the condition of your spine, how long the treatment will take and what to expect.
Step 6. The Adjustment
With the Gonstead System of Chiropractic, your adjustment is safe and effective, restoring proper body function to your spine and nervous system. Your body can now begin its natural healing process, operating at its full potential.
